Five Incendiary Ray Bradbury Movies
Warner Bros.
The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms (1953)
Based loosely on Bradbury's short story The Foghorn, the film follows a prehistoric creature that's awakened after an atomic blast that wreaks havoc on New York City. Beast became the calling card for Bradbury's good friend Ray Harryhausen, who honed his state-of-the-art stop-motion effects and creature design for this fun '50s monster movie. The film came out the same year that Fahrenheit 451 was published, as well as It Came From Outer Space, Universal's first 3D movie, which hit the big screens courtesy of a script treatment also written by Bradbury.
