Edits made to the upcoming film Gangster Squad in light of the Aurora, Colorado movie theater shooting have made it necessary for Warner Bros. to change the September 7 release date, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Reshoots are being done after the studio omitted a scene in the movie where gangsters open fire on an audience in a movie theater.
The news source reports that January 11 is the tentative date for the release, but a final decision won't be made until it's been determined how quickly the reshoots can be done.
The now-controversial scene was featured prominently in the film's trailer, which ironically ran right before Thursday night's fateful screening of The Dark Knight Rises. The trailer was pulled from subsequent screenings by Warner Bros.
