The Dark Knight Rises held its position at the top of the box office over the weekend, fending off contender Total Recall.

The final installation of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy pulled in $36.4 million, procuring a comfortable lead against Total Recall's $26 million debut.
Dairy of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days, which also premiered over the weekend, was no pushover, reeling in $14.7 million for third place.
