Titanic sails onto Blu-ray 2D and 3D for the first time in stores and online today, and director James Cameron tells ET of the myriad special features, "It's a real smorgasbord." Plus we've got an exclusive clip from the bonus features focusing on Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet's on-set chemistry! Watch the video for Cameron's interview, and then the clip…
"There are two new documentaries in there that say just about everything that needs to be said about Titanic," explains Cameron of the new disc out today, pointing out that Reflections on Titanic has everything to do with the making of the film and the "social phenomenon" surrounded it, while Titanic: The Final Word focuses on the forensic studies Cameron has done of the wreck over the last decade and a half: "If you're kind of a rivet counter and really into the real Titanic story, the wreck and kind of the archaeology of the wreck site, that'll be great."
Cameron made his very first trip to the birthplace of the legendary ship in Belfast where the Titanic was built to induct the new Titanic Belfast Museum, located 100 yards from where Titanic's hull was launched. We caught up with the director just before he headed out for the event, and he shared his enthusiasm, saying, "I've been to the wreck on 33 dives, and I've seen with my own eyes … the craftsmanship of those Irish hands that did all the wood carving. … It will be interesting to see how they commemorate their own culture of having this great culture of artisans there that built all these great ships."
Titanic is available in a four-disc 2D Blu-ray/DVD combo pack with digital copy or, for the ultimate experience in fully immersive 3D, in a four-disc Blu-ray 3D and 2D combo pack with digital copy; both sets featuring more than 2 ½ hours of new bonus footage never-before-released on disc, 30 deleted scenes and 60 behind-the-scenes featurettes.
