Tim Burton's Frankenweenie is set to electrify theaters on October 5, and in order to better understand the power of electricity, take a first look at an instructional clip from the film!
Video: The 'Frankenweenie' Trailer is Alive!
The story of Victor, a boy who brings his beloved dog back to life -- Frankenstein style -- the clip features substitute teacher Mr. Ryzkruski instructing Victor's class about the power of electricity. Take a good look and it's clear that Ryzkruski's look is styled after horror legend Vincent Price, with a voice resembling fellow legend Bela Lugosi (courtesy of Martin Landau, who won an Oscar for his performance as Lugosi in Ed Wood).
Much like Corpse Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas, Burton brings his signature style to this brand-new stop-motion animated tale, which finds Victor (voiced by Charlie Tahan) setting up a laboratory in his attic to reanimate his beloved dog Sparky. But when Sparky gets loose, the entire town learns that getting a new "leash" on life can be monstrous.
Burton favorites Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara also lend their voices to Frankenweenie, with Danny Elfman on hand to provide the score.
