Emma Shares the Perks of Being in 'Wallflower'

Emma Watson sheds her Hermione persona for a little more mature and risqué role in the new, coming-of-age film The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and she says of her character, "She's truly original and true to herself and so different than what I've done before. "

"She's so spontaneous and such a free spirit and I just loved her," Emma said of her character Sam at a special New York screening of the film, saying that the shoot was like "a hippie commune" and "we all just really bonded together."

In theaters September 21, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is an adaptation of the 1999 cult novel that focuses on a high school freshman named Charlie (Logan Lerman) as he navigates the throes of adolescence with the help of new senior friends Patrick (Ezra Miller) and Sam (Watson), who take him under their wing. Nina Dobrev, Kate Walsh, Dylan McDermott and Paul Rudd also star.
