The big-screen adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic Les Miserables may not have the look of the original Broadway production, but the beloved musical will retain the raw emotional feel, thanks to performances recorded live on set by the entire cast.

"Singing live, there's just an emotional level to this that just cannot be created in the studio," remarks star Russell Crowe in this behind-the-scenes look at the film's production.
"This is the first time anyone has ever tried it like this," gushed Anne Hathaway on set of the remake out Christmas Day. "It's going to be different for sure."
"[It was] daunting," admits Hugh Jackman, who says he ultimately embraced the "freedom" of setting his own pace for the acting/musical numbers.
Directed by Tom Hooper (The King's Speech), Les Miserables also stars Samantha Barks, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham Carter, Sacha Baron Cohen and Eddie Redmayne, and is based on the iconic novel of the same name set in 19th-century France.
