MacFarlane said he considered it "an overwhelming privilege" to be selected for the honor. "My thoughts upon hearing the news were, one, I will do my utmost to live up to the high standards set forth by my predecessors; and two, I hope they don't find out I hosted the Charlie Sheen Roast," he said. MacFarlane posted the video above on his Facebook page.

In addition to being behind the FOX comedy series Family Guy, American Dad! and The Cleveland Show, MacFarlane made his feature directorial debut this summer with the film Ted, which brought in more than $420 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing films of the year. He also hosted the recent season premiere of NBC's Saturday Night Live.
