Dame Judi Dench refers to her Skyfall co-star Daniel Craig as the "James Bond for today," and her description of the brooding actor is surprising.

"I keep coming back to it, but he really has a great sense of humor," Dench, 77, said in a dossier to Craig for British GQ magazine's special James Bond tribute issue. "Gradually you find that he has this sense of humor that is irresistible."

The renowned actress adds that she thinks this is essential to playing Bond in this time. However, his sense of humor isn't all he has going for him. "I also think he feels like a Bond who could kill a man. ... You'd be afraid of him, wouldn't you?"

Dench concludes her praises to 44-year-old Craig, saying, "He's an actor but he's also a leading man. I don't think there's much he can't do."

Skyfall, the 23rd movie in the beloved spy series, follows Bond (Craig) as his loyalty to M (Dench) is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. The film is set to hit theaters and IMAX in the U.S. Nov. 9, 2012.
