Javier Bardem is an 'Uncomfortable' Bond Villain

Maybe it's all about the hair… Javier Bardem one-ups his No Country For Old Men bad guy Anton Chigurh as the villain in the new James Bond movie Skyfall, and he encapsulates his onscreen objective with one word: "Uncomfortableness."

"Rather than being threatening or scaring people, it's about creating uncomfortable situations for all of [the protagonists of Skyfall]," Javier tells ET's Christina McLarty about his character's approach, adding that it was important that he also display a sense of humor, "Because a sense of humor can also be very uncomfortable."

As for his self-described "bizarre" blonde hairstyle in the film, Javier explains, "The looks also trigger the behavior."

In Skyfall, Javier plays Raoul Silva, a mysterious character involved in a revenge that finds Bond's (Daniel Craig) loyalty to M (Judi Dench) put to the test as her past comes back to haunt her and MI6 comes under attack.

"The first time I saw a James Bond movie in a theater was Moonraker when I was 12, and I was immediately drawn to the villain, Jaws," says Javier of the oversized henchman with metal teeth who finds redemption at the end of the movie. "I felt he was such a nice man, and I was like, 'Why is this guy playing the villain if he is so nice and so sweet?' So I guess my destiny was already written the first time I saw a James Bond movie."

The Spanish star adds, "It's a great privilege to be part of the one [Bond movie] that celebrates 50 years of the franchise."
