Marvel Studios has finally released its full synopsis containing the first detailed plot information for the highly anticipated Iron Man 3!
The official movie profile states that the latest installment in the hugely successful superhero franchise pits the "brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds." Of course the enemy referenced is a brand new villain called The Mandarin, portrayed by Sir Ben Kingsley.
"In Marvel's Iron Man 3, Tony Stark/Iron Man finds his world reduced to rubble by a malevolent enemy and must use his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him as he seeks to destroy the enemy and his cohorts," the synopsis reveals. "When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle."
The new plot description also teases the answer to a crucial question about the unstoppable superhero character. "As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?"
The franchise's new director Shane Black told fans at this year's Comic-Con that the third film would be "a little more thriller-esque" and full of "suspenseful" moments. "It'll feel different, you'll see," Black promised.
Iron Man 3 -- which also stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce, Paul Bettany, Jon Favreau and Don Cheadle -- flies into theaters May 3, 2013.
