Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis is getting raves once again for his turn as our 16th president in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, and we're flashing back to our first-ever ET interview with the somewhat shy and reclusive star!

Back in 1992, ET caught up with Daniel on the red carpet for the premiere of The Last of the Mohicans, and the then-35-year-old star displayed his trademark humility by telling ET that he almost dodged the evening's spotlight, saying with a laugh, "I nearly stayed in the car and told him to keep driving."
