Now nominated for a Best Documentary Academy Award, the incredible true story of the '70 rock star that never was is now on DVD and Blu-ray! Swedish director Malik Bendjelloul tracks down the truth behind the story of the musician Sixto Rodriguez, whose music became bigger than Elvis during the anti-Apartheid struggle in South Africa. A legendary figure who was said to have committed suicide on stage, it turns out that not only was Rodriguez alive and well, but completely oblivious to his fame and working construction in relative obscurity in Detroit. Searching for Sugar Man follows his promising origins and first musical failures, his growing mythic status and, finally, his triumphant comeback.
Also available is the Searching for Sugar Man original motion picture soundtrack featuring all songs by Rodriguez.
