Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel may both be taken, but that didn't stop the two on-screen lovers from gushing over one another at the Hollywood premiere of their new romantic drama Safe Haven.

After shadowing Hough while she was getting ready from the premiere, ET's Rob Marciano headed to the Chinese Theater to catch up with the 24-year-old actress and her co-star. The two had nothing but endearing words for one another.

"Julianne is very low-maintenance, and I'm not just saying that because there's a camera in my face," said Duhamel, who married Black Eyes Peas singer Fergie in 2009. "This girl was unbelievable. ... She was very easy to connect with in this movie."

Hough, who is currently dating media mogul and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest, had her share of even more flattering words about Duhamel.

"As beautiful as he is on the outside--and I know so many people know what I'm talking about--he's even more beautiful on the inside, and that is not just a Hallmark-card line," she said. "He's so good. When you see the movie and how he is with the kids, that's just who he is [in real life]."

Duhamel, who affirmed Hough's thoughts on him, plays a single father in the film, which proved an ample segue for Mr. Marciano to ask he if he'd like to be a father one day. As the 40-year-old actor has previously stated, children are in he and his wife's plans.

"Yeah absolutely," Duhamel responded when asked if he wanted to have kids. "It wasn't because of this movie. It's something that I've wanted for a long time."

The film is yet another big-screen adaption of a Nicholas Sparks novel, who most notably also wrote A Walk to Remember and The Notebook amongst his many books that have been adapted into movies.

Sparks attests that Hough and Duhamel's chemistry is apparent in the film.

"They did great," the novelist said. "...They have great chemistry, which is what you expect, but they both brought so much other emotional depth to the role. They really became these characters. Within literally a minute into the film, you buy them as these characters and that's critical."

Safe Haven is in theaters Valentine's Day (Feb. 14).
