Emma Watson's name will always be associated with the Harry Potter series, which launched her career. However, with the fantasy film series having reached its conclusion, the English actress now aims to establish her versatility as an actress. With her film The Bling Ring coming out this summer, let's take a look at one of her very first interviews.

In November of 2001, Watson was on the verge of premiering the inaugural Harry Potter film in her native England in London alongside co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint.

It was not only her first Harry Potter film but her first film period. As the then-11-year-old actress recounts in the flashback, she landed her eventual career-launching role in a school audition.

As Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was her first film, the young Watson was nervous to see the finished product. Moreover, she was anxious to discover what her friends thought of her film debut.

"[My friends] have been so supportive. They've been really nice about it," she says in one of her first interviews. "They saw [the film] when I saw it. It's not like I saw it before they did, which was very nerve-wracking. I thought I was going to fluff up and they'd all think I look stupid. They really liked it, which was really nice."

Although Watson didn't reveal her plans for the future films on the remainder of the Harry Potter book series, potentially due to contractual confidentiality, acting was something that she'd set her sights on at a very young age.

Shortly after relocating to England at age five from her birthplace of Paris, the young Watson began aspiring to become an actress.

For ten years of her life, she lived that dream through the Harry Potter series, reprising her role as the sassy, confident "Hermione Granger" in all eight of films up to the final hurrah, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, in 2011.

After the concluding Potter film, Watson then embarked on the somewhat-daunting-yet-thrilling journey of ascertaining herself beyond playing Harry Potter's best friend. Without hiatus, she took roles in the Marilyn Monroe-inspired drama My Week with Marilyn and the comedy-drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
