Extremis technology taps into human DNA to regenerate injuries and enhance strength, taking the human race to the next evolutionary level, and Robert Downey Jr. muses, "It's Nobel Prize stuff, you know. But in our world, it's Nobel Prize gone wrong."

Iron Man 3's storyline is based on the six-episode comic book arc from 2005-2006, written by Warren Ellis and illustrated by Adi Granov. The film finds Robert's Tony Stark at the top of his game. But when a new villain, Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) targets the billionaire industrialist on his home turf and attacks the president, the world is watching. With the help of loyal friends Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) and Rhodey (Don Cheadle), aka War Machine, what will Iron Man do to stop the madness?
