Iron Man 3 star Guy Pearce detours back into dramatic territory as a man forced to come clean about his optimistic façade in 33 Letters, and in our exclusive clip he details how he got into character for the compelling film. Watch the video…
In theaters Friday, 33 Letters follows a Chinese orphan, Mei Mei (Zhu Lin), who has dreamed for 10 years of finally meeting her Australian sponsor, Dean (Pearce), and his "perfect family." Opportunity knocks when her orphanage travels Down Under to attend a Choir Festival, and Mei Mei tracks down Dean – only to discover that the man and his "perfect family" are nothing like the vision that he presents. In fact, she finds him behind bars, clinging to his idyllic fantasy as a coping mechanism. Initially mismatched and disconnected, the two begin a journey in search of belonging, family, redemption, love and acceptance.
Directed by Pauline Chan, 33 Postcards also stars Claudia Karvan, Elaine Jin, Rhys Muldoon and Lincoln Lewis.
