How Henry Cavill Cheated on His 'Superman' Diet

It's no secret that Henry Cavill had to get into super-shape to take on the Superman role in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, but at the film's highly anticipated premiere Monday night in New York City, the handsome British actor revealed one particularly decadent cheat day.

"Well I had a couple of breaks throughout shooting, just because you have to give me a bit of a break here and there, and after one particularly harsh leaning phase, I did a whole apple pie, a tub of ice cream and an enormous pizza," he told ET.

But clearly, Cavill has maintained in tip-top shape to promote his role as the beloved superhero, a character which he acknowledged "means a lot to a lot of people."

"What makes it so timeless is that it represents hope," Cavill says about the story of Superman. "And no matter what era we're in, we need hope."

Amy Adams, who plays Lois Lane in the film, remembered having a crush on Christopher Reeve, who played the iconic role in four films.

"More than anything it was the smile," Adams recalled about Reeve. "I've always been a girl who falls for eyes and a smile and he had both in spades -- as Henry does. There's just this charm that's innate and it's wonderful to participate in."
