Is your spider-sense tingling? Production on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is in full swing in New York, with a scheduled release date of May 2, 2014, and now Sony Pictures has announced not one but two definite follow-up films and their release dates!
Following Andrew Garfield's second outing as Peter Parker next May, the next two films in the superhero storyline are scheduled to be released on June 10, 2016, and on May 4, 2018. Jeff Blake, Chairman of Worldwide Marketing and Distribution for Sony Pictures, explains, "Spider-Man is our most important, most successful, and most beloved franchise, so we're thrilled that we are in a position to lock in these prime release dates over the next five years."
Director Marc Webb is back behind the camera steering the action of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which finds Peter Parker's life quite busy between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone). There are new villains in town -- Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) -- along with old friend Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan) and the introduction of Mary-Jane Watson (Shailene Woodley).
