The Hobbit trilogy mastermind Peter Jackson broke the news today that The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will not have a presence at Comic-Con this year. Awwwww. But, in an effort to appease die-hard fans, he's release a 10-plus-minute blog that's chock-full of behind the scenes footage -- and a hilarious "Dwarvicise" training sequence! Yay!!!

PICS: 'Smaug' and 13 Must-See Movies of 2013

Watch and rejoice, Middle-earth denizens; rather than fret that there will be no Smaug at Comic-Con, think of it as a "second breakfast" that no one has to wait in line for hours and days to get into the Hall H panel, and there will surely be plenty of cool Hobbit collectibles and exclusives to tide you over in San Diego until December. Plus, you can watch Orlando Bloom rap as Legolas!
