A remake of Oldboy, 2003's South Korean cult hit, has been in the works since its release, but given the film's touchy subject material, it took almost 10 years -- and almost as many director/star swaps -- to make it to the big screen.

But on October 25, an American version of this shocking story -- directed by Spike Lee and starring Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sharlto Copley and Samuel L. Jackson -- washes ashore, and the first trailer has just premiered online.

The red band trailer (swearing! gore!) only gives you a hint of what's to come ... but the unique visual style original director Chan-wook Park infused into the story is alive and well. Watch!
