"The storyline is really heartfelt," explains the voice behind Smurfette, Katy Perry, whose character is kidnapped by Vladamir (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) in the film after he learns she has a secret spell that can turn the evil sorcerer's newest creation, the Naughties, into real Smurfs.

"It's like everybody goes through these, kind of, coming-of-age growing pains, questioning existence," she adds. "In some ways, she's almost, like, turning into a teenager. She's like, 'Why am I here? What am I doing?'."
