Comic-Con fans have been in love with The Mortal Instruments story from day one and the film's cast got to experience that love firsthand over the weekend.
"I think it has all the trappings of a real epic story -- the kind that people who come to Comic-Con kind of love and embrace," said author Cassandra Clare, explaining their warm reception at the event. "I'm really excited for us to be here ... I want people who are familiar with it to get to see the characters that they love and people who aren't familiar with it to see how awesome it is."
Based on Clare's adult fantasy novels, the action-adventure movie follows teenage girl Clary Fray (Lily Collins), who sets on a quest to rescue her mother from a demon that took her from their home in New York City. In the course of her search, her life is forever changed by the family secrets she uncovers.
Watch the video to hear the cast dish on the onscreen love story between Clary and Jace (Jamie Campbell Bower).
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones opens August 21.
