Creating Personality Out of 'Planes'

Disney's Planes takes off in theaters nationwide in 3D this weekend, and we're with the stars of the brand-new Cars spinoff film, including Dane Cook, Teri Hatcher, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Priyanka Chopra, to find out what it takes to create a winning personality out of what is essentially an inanimate object!

Hatcher laughs that she was "hired to play a forklift" because she could bring "some attitude and some humor" to her role, while Louis-Dreyfus simply says, "They are geniuses -- these animators know what they're doing, and my hat's off to them."

"I couldn’t believe it – I saw my entire life of watching Disney animation flash before my eyes," says Cook about voicing the central character. "I remember watching Pete's Dragon when I was a kid and Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Fantasia and all these things and now I'm in it; now I'm a part of it. So this is incredible."

Disney's Planes is the comedic tale of Dusty (voiced by Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. Dusty's not exactly built for racing – and he's also afraid of heights – so he turns to a seasoned naval aviator (played by Stacy Keach) to learn how to take on the defending champ of the race circuit.
