When Morgan Freeman played President Beck in 1998's Deep Impact it just felt right. There was something about his authoritative yet soothing voice that simply struck the perfect presidential tone, and that was just one of the reasons why director Antoine Fuqua wanted him for Olympus Has Fallen.
In the film, his character, Senator Trumbull assumes the presidency after the acting Commander-in-Chief (played by Aaron Eckhart) is taken hostage.
"He has a gentleness about him that if the nation is falling, you'd want to see Morgan taking the helm," Fuqua says in ETonline's exclusive clip off the Olympus Has Fallen DVD.
Check out the clip to hear Freeman explain why he wanted to make the movie and Eckhart gush about working alongside one of our most iconic actors!
Olympus Has Fallen hits DVD on August 13.
