The horror found-footage horror genre gets a shot of horny hilarity in Ghost Team One, and the lively trio that stars in the film -- J.R. Villarreal, Fernanda Romero and Carlos Santos -- along with its slightly insane directing team -- Ben Peyser and Scott Rutherford -- are sharing their excitement about the movie – and how they thought that the house where they shot was actually haunted!
"These two chickens were so scared," says Fernanda of her male co-stars. "They didn't know that there was a family living behind in a connected house … so they heard noises, and they were like, 'Ahhhhh! It is haunted for real!'"
In theaters, VOD and Digital today, Ghost Team One pushes the boundaries of good taste at every turn, following two pals, looking to impress a beautiful girl, who decide to make a documentary about a murder that took place in their house years ago. While their minds are clearly focused on getting laid, the horny ghost of a vengeful madam is also focused on doing the same – and scaring the crap out of them in the process.
"It's a comedy with jumps," says co-director Peyser, while Rutherford adds, "I think that's sort of the appeal of the found-footage horror film, is it's sort of everybody's had a bit of [a paranormal fright] -- it's just up to you whether you choose to believe it was real or not. We got to make a movie where we said, 'Screw you, it's real!'"
J.R. and Carlos liken the film to Paranormal Activity meets Harold & Kumar, and Fernanda adds, "It's a funny film; it's wacky, pushing the limits. You'll get scared here and there too, but you'll definitely have a good time."
