'Paranormal Activity' Returns with 'Marked Ones'

October is usually marked by Paramount Pictures as the month to release a new Paranormal Activity movie, but this year is different. The paranormal parody Ghost Team One has taken its place in a limited, platform release, and all we're getting is a trailer for the next film in the hugely successful found-footage series -- Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, in theaters this January -- a spinoff of sorts that follows some spooky happenings in the Los Angeles-adjacent Latino community of Oxnard, CA.

Capitalizing on Catholic-based mythology, the storyline shows clear ties to the events of the previous films (the possession of Kristi and Katie), but moves the action to a new apartment complex, where an entity looks to protect -- and then inhabit -- an unwitting curiosity seeker (Andrew Jacobs).

Since the Latino community is a huge part of the Paranormal Activity fan base, it looks like Paramount's demographics department did their homework this time around.
