Girl Most Likely

By DAVID WEINER

November 05, 2013

The versatile Kristen Wiig teams up with Glee star Darren Criss for the deliciously offbeat comedy Girl Most Likely, which casts Kristen as Imogene Duncan, a promising Manhattan playwright whose crisis of confidence leads her to stage an elaborate fake suicide to get the attention of her ex-boyfriend. The stunt puts her in the hospital psychiatric unit -- and then unwittingly in the care of her gambling addict mother Zelda (Annette Bening in spot-on comedy mode), who wants nothing to do with her. Forced to live at her childhood home on the Jersey Shore, she must grapple with the family dynamics of her unique brother (Christopher Fitzgerald), her mom's new boyfriend (Matt Dillon) and a cute young lodger (played by Darren) -- who has taken over her room -- as she figures out how to find her place in the world.
