"My character is sort of at the center because she is in possession of a weapon everyone's after at some point," she explains, refusing to reveal any specific spoilers.

Portman, Hemsworth, Hiddleston, Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings and Rene Russo are all back for the sequel, this time directed by Alan Taylor. In Thor: The Dark World finds the classic Marvel Comics character battling to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself -- an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith (played by Eccleston) looking to plunge the universe back into darkness.
