'Thor' Hammers B.O. Competition

Thor: The Dark World
hammered the competition at the box office this weekend, grossing an estimated $86.1 million in its initial bow and besting title star Chris Hemsworth's opening weekend of $65 for his first outing as the Marvel Comics character in 2011.

Coming in at a distant second was Johnny Knoxville's Bad Grandpa, still virile in its third weekend with $11.3 million, giving the film a $78.7 million total gross. Free Birds ($11.2 million for a $30.2 million total), Last Vegas ($11.1 million for a $33.5 million total) and Ender's Game ($10.2 million for a $44 million total) rounded out the weekend's Top 5.
