Jason Statham plays a former DEA officer and devoted single dad who relocates to the Louisiana bayou, only to be forced to battle vengeful bikers and meth kingpins in the gritty action-thriller Homefront, in theaters November 27. ET sat down with Jason and his co-stars James Franco, Kate Bosworth and newcomer Izabela Vidovic to talk about the deep South, protective natures, shooting in New Orleans, meth heads -- and the film's cute kitty in jeopardy!

PICS: Star Sightings

"A little trivia: there's a cat in the movie – now that the cat's out of the bag – my character steals the cat," says James. "It's a little black kitten, and they had doubles on set, so there were like three kittens just to play that one role, and I ended up adopting two of the kittens, two of the sisters, so I own them now -- Lux and Max."

Written by Sylvester Stallone and Chuck Logan (Sly recruited Jason to star in the film on the set of The Expendables 2), Homefront stars Jason as Phil Broker, a family man who moves off the grid with his daughter (played by Vidovic) to a seemingly quiet bayou backwater to escape his troubled past. But when Broker's daughter gets involved in a playground scuffle with a bully at school, the boy's meth-addict mother (played by Bosworth) recruits her drug kingpin brother Gator (Franco) to rattle the Broker cage, forcing Broker back into action in order to save his family and the town.
