Holliday Grainger and Emile Hirsch star as Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow in Lifetime's new take on the legendary couple whose crime spree enraptured the American public, which takes up deep inside the Depression era as well as Bonnie and Clyde's notoriously intense relationship.
"The media certainly glamorized it when Bonnie and Clyde were robbing banks, they were respected as these types of Robin Hood figures," Hirsch explains in this brand-new featurette about the two-night television event.
And clearly, this obsession with fame and notoriety is still relevant today.
"The media was completely influential in the rise and fall of Bonnie and Clyde," Grainger adds. "She's obsessed with fame, and this idea of not being forgotten."
Check out the video for director Bruce Beresford's take on what makes Bonnie & Clyde such a fascinating story, and for a closer look at what's promising to be an epic television event.
Part one of Bonnie & Clyde premieres Sunday, December 8, at 9 p.m. ET/PT simultaneously on History, A&E and Lifetime, and part two premieres Monday, December 9, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
