'Wall Street' Actress on 'Overwhelming' Experience

Working with legendary director Martin Scorsese and acclaimed actor Leonardo DiCaprio is an intimidating feat for anyone, but doing so for one of her first films was doubly daunting for Australian actress Margot Robbie.

Robbie made her official film debut in an Australian film in 2008 and also starred in the short-lived 2011 American TV pilot Pan Am, but she only recently made her American film debut in the Rachel McAdams romantic comedy About Time.

For her sophomore American film, the 23-year-old Queensland native stars alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the crime comedy The Wolf of Wall Street, in which she shares some steamy scenes with DiCaprio.

"It was nerve-wracking, for sure," Robbie said of working on the film on the red carpet of its New York premiere. "...It was kind of overwhelming to be among such prestigious people in the industry and to be doing scenes like we were doing. It was...totally overwhelming, but to see it on screen is still kind of overwhelming."

Although she was daunted to work with such celebrated film figures, Robbie says that Scorsese helped her lighten up by instilling confidence in her from the get-go.

"His vote of confidence in me...really helped, obviously," said Robbie, who acted on the Australian soap opera Neighbours for two-and-a-half years. "After our first audition, he said...'You're the character!' So, that was tremendously helpful."

Accompanying Robbie to Tuesday evening's premiere was her mother, whom she thought might become uncomfortable watching her daughter in some of the film's more salacious scenes, but she nevertheless wanted her mother by her side for her first big premiere.
