"This is truly one of my favorite films this year," said the First Lady following a screening of the film at the White House, adding, "I wept. ... It obviously has moved me, and it will be the guiding post for my work over the next three years."

The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete follows a pair of young boys (Skylan Brooks and Ethan Dizon) in the Brooklyn projects who must use their wits and street smarts to survive after their hard-living mothers are arrested by the police, leaving them to survive alone for weeks after they dodge Child Protective Services.
