February 18, 2014
Leonardo DiCaprio received a rousing welcome when he traveled across the pond over the weekend for the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) in London. Leo and other top nominees spoke on the red carpet about being honored by the prestigious British film organization.
"It's a very nice reception," the Wolf of Wall Street star quipped as he was cheered and his name chanted by excited onlookers near the red carpet. "This film was particularly meaningful for me because it was a seven-year process to get it made," he added. "It was ultimately a reflection of the darker nature of humanity and our culture."
Bradley Cooper, also proved to be a hit on the BAFTA red carpet, where he paid tribute to other nominees from the 1970s era crime drama American Hustle. "I am just excited that we're all here representing the movie." He also praised David O. Russell, who also directed him in the 2012 Oscar-nominated Silver Linings Playbook. "David knows what he's doing -- two years in a row. I'm so glad that he gets recognized for his work because he's an incredible filmmaker."
"I'm very excited. Thrilled about the nomination and thrilled for the film and the numerous nominations the film received. And I'm excited to be out here in this kind of festival atmosphere celebrating film generally," said Chiwetel Ejiofor, who ended up winning the BAFTA for Leading Actor for 12 Years a Slave, which also captured the Best Film award.
