Angelina Jolie has "cast a spell" on Hollywood as the Sleeping Beauty's nemesis Maleficent.

Donning the cover of Entertainment Weekly, the 38-year-old two-time Oscar winner talks about what it takes to become this classic villain. "The exercise wasn't how can we have fun with a villain?" Jolie tells EW's Anthony Breznican. "It was: What turns people evil and vile and aggressive and cruel? What could have possibly happened to her?"

Jolie does speak about her personal life, more specifically her preventative double mastectomy. "Wherever I go, usually I run into women and we talk about health issues, women's issues, breast cancer, ovarian cancer. I've talked to men about their daughters' and wives' health," she says. "It makes me feel closer to other people who deal with the same things and have either lost their parents or are considering surgeries or wondering about their children. I was very, very moved by all the support and kindness from so many people."

Maleficent, also starring Elle Fanning and tracking the events that hardened the villainous Maleficent's heart and drove her to curse young Princess Aurora (Fanning), hits theaters May 30, 2014.
