Some of the world's most dangerous terrorists are imprisoned within the walls of the infamous Abu Ghraib prison, and the world took notice in 2004 when stories were leaked from within the Iraqi stronghold about alleged torture and unethical treatment of detainees by U.S. forces. Boys of Abu Ghraib, the new war thriller from the producers of Blood Diamond and The Last Samurai, tackles this shocking and incredible tale, and ETonline has an exclusive clip from the upcoming March 28 theatrical release.
Based on the true events, Boys of Abu Ghraib follows the journey of soldier Jack Farmer (played by Luke Moran) from small town America to Iraq's most infamous prison. Tasked with guarding the Army's highest priority detainees, Jack is pressured by his superior (played by Sean Astin) into using harsh techniques on a seemingly innocent detainee (Argo star Omid Abtahi). Very quickly the romanticized perspective of war transforms into a harsh and haunting reality for Jack that threatens to break him. Will he ultimately choose duty, or the higher moral ground?
Luke Moran also writes and directs the project, which co-stars John Heard, Michael Welch, Elijah Kelley, John Robinson, Sara Paxton and Scott Patterson. Watch the full trailer:
