Shailene Woodley is at the top of her game … and she’s only 22 years old! The actress stars in Divergent, in theaters March 21, playing Beatrice “Tris” Prior in the film adaptation of the best-selling book series. She shares the screen with an incredibly hunky Theo James, Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet, and her The Spectacular Now co-star Miles Teller in the action flick.
But there is much more to this young actress than who her co-stars are. ET is breaking down 5 things you should know about the Golden Globe-nominated actress.
Number five: her parents both worked in the mental health profession. “I grew up with two psychologist parents,” she told ET while promoting Divergent. “So empathy, compassion, selflessness were all ingrained into my brain at a young age.”
Number four: she recently chopped off eight inches of her hair. The actress made the choice to go short in August 2013 in honor of her role as teenage cancer patient Hazel Grace Lancaster in The Fault in Our Stars. She donated her long locks to Children With Hair Loss.
Number three: she adores her Descendants co-star George Clooney and gushed about him to ET at the 2012 Golden Globes.
“George is the most generous person I’ve ever met,” she said of Clooney. “He’s the kind of guy who would do anything for anyone, whether he knows you or not. And he does it so slyly that if you’re lucky you see him doing it. But for the most part he does it and nobody sees it.”
