Said to be inspired by an Uncanny X-Men comic book storyline that ran back in 1981, the plot of X-Men: Days of Future Past contains a time-travel storyline that allows our heroes (and villains) to join forces with their younger selves from the past in order to change a major historical event and fight in an epic battle that could save our future. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Nicholas Hoult, Peter Dinklage, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen also star.

Bryan Singer, the man who transformed Stan Lee's uncanny X-Men into some of the biggest superheroes of the cinema, is also back in the director's chair of the franchise for the follow-up to X-Men: First Class, and was one of the driving forces to get so many of the original trilogy's cast back in costume.
