Matthew McConaughey boldly goes where no one has gone before in the first full international trailer from director Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated Interstellar, the follow-up to his Dark Knight trilogy. Watch and share!
Described as "a heroic interstellar voyage to the furthest reaches of our scientific understanding," the film's poster boasts the tagline, "Mankind was born on Earth. It was never meant to die here." Mankind is running out of its food supply and must reach to the stars for help.
"We must confront the reality that nothing in our solar system can help us," intones Nolan mainstay Michael Caine. McConaughey says, "Now you need to tell me what your plan is to save the world," to which the elderly Brit replies, "We're not meant to save the world. We're meant to leave it."
In addition to the high-stakes premise, the emotional aspect of the tale focuses on McConaughey's father grappling with the conflict of having to leave his children behind in the name of a lager cause: survival of the species. Will he ever come back?
McConaughey is joined by a cast that includes Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Wes Bentley, Topher Grace, Casey Affleck, Ellen Burstyn, John Lithgow and David Oyelowo along for the ride.
Interstellar opens in theaters November 7.
