The Veep star talks to ET about the film Generosity of Eye, a documentary about her father and his art collection.
Four-time Emmy-winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus grew up around art, as her father William is a prolific collector of paintings, sculptures and sketches. Then recently, he decided that he would sell almost his entire collection and put the proceeds into a trust as an endowment for the Harlem Children's Zone, a nonprofit organization that seeks to improve the lives of inner-city kids and families in Harlem.
Now Julia, and her husband Brad Hall, have created a documentary called Generosity of Eye about her father and this massive act of compassion and charity.
"We peeled back the layers of this extraordinary act of generosity," said the 53-year-old Veep star. "We really didn't know what we were going to discover as we did this… but my husband is very, very good at putting this kind of thing together, and finding the thread."
The actress went on to reveal what aspects of her father she hopes she shares, and wants to live up to. "I hope I share the two passions that he has. One for art, he has a great passion for art, and he also has a great passion for justice, and social justice. I believe I share that with him, which is why I'm so happy to celebrate this."
