New Trailer For 'The Drop' Features James Gandolfini's Final Gritty Performance
Fox Searchlight
The international trailer for the upcoming gritty crime drama The Drop was released this weekend, and audiences finally get a look at the late James Gandolfini in his final role.
The story is set in Brooklyn, and follows a down-on-his-luck ex-con Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy) who is working as a bartender. He finds himself in the middle of a robbery that goes badly and upsets the natural order of the gangsters in the neighborhood and entangles Marv (Gandolfini), another ex-con who is trying to be legit.
The film features Gandolfini's last performance after his untimely passing. The actor, best known for his starring role in The Sopranos, died of a heart attack while on vacation in Italy almost one year ago on June 19, 2013.
The Drop is scheduled to hit theaters September 12, 2014.
