Looks like Alec Baldwin is running for mayor after all!

The 30 Rock star is planning his return to TV to play a "Rob Ford-type Mayor of New York City," Deadline reports. For those unfamiliar with this name, Rob Ford is the Mayor of Toronto who started making headlines when he was caught on camera smoking what looked to be crack.

The NBC Production is being produced as a one-hour cable series.

In addition to his political role, the trade website points out that Baldwin, 56, is also in talks to star in Mission: Impossible 5 as the head of the CIA and has accepted roles in both Warren Beatty and Cameron Crowe's films.
