Bill Murray has signed on to play the lovable bear Baloo in Disney's upcoming adaptation of The Jungle Book, the studio announced on Friday.
The film is set to be a blend of live-action and animation. The story is an adaptation of the Rudyard Kipling novel of the same name which Disney famously turned into one of it's most beloved films in 1967.
In the original animated film, legendary voice actor Phil Harris provided the iconic voice of Baloo - as well as the voice of Little John in Disney's Robin Hood.
The Jungle Book follows the story of a young boy named Mowgli who is abandoned in the jungle as a baby. He is adopted into a family of wolves and learns how to survive the many dangers with the help of Baloo the carefree bear.
Scarlett Johansson, Idris Elba, Christopher Walken, Lupita Nyong'o and Ben Kingsley have all signed on to co-star.
Iron Man director Jon Favreau is helming the project with a script by Justin Marks. The Jungle Book is currently scheduled for an October 9, 2015 release.
