Julia Roberts revealed to the September 2014 issue of InStyle magazine that she was almost the leading lady in the 1993 classic Sleepless in Seattle. While chatting about her alleged lack of ambition, the Oscar winner disclosed, "I'd been offered Sleepless in Seattle but couldn't do it. [Meg Ryan] and Tom Hanks are just such a jewel of a fit in that. I guess what they did for that moment in time is sort of what Richard [Gere] and I were doing across town (in the 1990 film Pretty Woman), you know?"

Despite turning down arguably one of the biggest rom-com roles of the 90s, the 46-year-old actress doesn't seem to have any regrets. "I always feel like there is room for everybody. I don't consider myself really all that ambitious," she told the fashion magazine. "When I didn't get a part -- even when I was younger and needing to pay my rent -- I would think, 'Oh, someone else got it. She's going to be so good.' I never felt sour grapes."

Roberts' way of looking at her career isn't the only advice she dished during her InStyle interview. She also revealed the secret to her successful 12-year marriage to Danny Moder. "I always say… that there are only two reasons why people fight: to be right, or to create peace and harmony. If you know which your reason is, that really illuminates why you’re having that conversation. Everything that comes out of your mouth should be properly focused on the point at issue and not on what you think the point should be."

She added of juggling her personal and professional life, "[The question I'd never want to be asked again is] 'How do you do it all?' because (a) I'm not nearly as busy as people think (b) half of everything just doesn't get done -- as long as no one is in tears, nobody smells bad and everyone's sleeping peacefully, I've done my job -- and (c) I have a supportive group of girlfriends, a great husband and an understanding family. The rest gets done with grit, spit and a whole lot of duct tape."
