She's not Rachel Greene anymore.
Romantic comedy darling Jennifer Aniston has pulled a McConaughey and gone to the serious side of acting in a new role that is getting her some critical acclaim.
In the upcoming drama Cake, the Friends star plays Claire Simmons, a woman who suffers from chronic pain and is popping lots of pills. Claire initiates a dubious relationship with a widower (Sam Worthington) while confronting hallucinations of his dead wife (Anna Kendrick), who committed suicide.
Critics are calling Aniston's performance a "redefining role" for the actress. Unlike her character on Friends or her other rom-com roles, the part of Claire has the 45-year-old actress going makeup-free, making her portrayal feel even more raw and emotional.
Cake hits theaters Jan. 25, 2015. Will you watch?
As for her personal life, Aniston opened up to her friend Ellen DeGeneres this week about her upcoming nuptials to fiance Justin Theroux. Get the details, below.
