The film adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical Into The Woods had its star-studded world premiere at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York on Monday, while the city was also hosting English royals Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

ET was on the red carpet at the film's premiere, and spoke with some of the stars about what they thought of the royal visit.

"I think it's great. I'm upset they're not here tonight," Into the Woods star Emily Blunt told ET. "I'm upset that they've chosen a [basketball] game over Into the Woods. I reckon Kate would prefer to be here, if I'm honest."

During the film'spremiere, Kate and William were at Brooklyn's Barclays, watching the Brooklyn Nets take on the Cleveland Cavaliers while sitting courtside and hanging with Jay Z and Beyonce.

But that didn't mean much to three-time Oscar winner Meryl Streep, who felt pretty confident that the Into the Woods premiere was still the place to be.

"Well, we're blowing them out of the water," Streep joked. "What can I say?"

James Corden, who will soon be taking over The Late Late Show from departing host Craig Ferguson, said that it was because of Prince William that he met Emily Blunt, and was subsequently cast in Into The Woods

"If it wasn't for Prince William, me and Emily Blunt would never have met," Corden told ET. "Me and Emily were both at a polo match that [William] was playing, and that's where we first met. So thank God for them."
