The Little Mermaid live-action adaptation has found its Ariel.
Chloe Grace Moretz has signed on to star in Universal's feature film of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale about a mermaid who gives up her life in the sea when she falls in love with a handsome prince.
The 18-year-old actress announced the news on Twitter on Friday. "Been waiting a long time to tell you guys !!," Moretz tweeted. " #TheLittleMermaid going to be a beautiful experience! Can't wait to show everyone my Mermaid!"

Director Sofia Coppola exited the project over creative differences earlier this year, and the project has yet to find a new director. Meanwhile, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Love Actually scribe Richard Curtis is in talks to pen the script.
Moretz, who recently starred in a remake of Stephen King's Carrie as well as the heartbreaking drama, If I Stay, will next appear in the Zac Efron-Seth Rogen sequel, Neighbors 2, and the post-apocalyptic thriller, The 5th Wave.
