The Fast and Furious star also told ET in April that he had the perfect part for the acclaimed actress.

Dame Helen Mirren has been championing for a role in the Fast and Furious franchise since she spoke to ET in March of last year.

"I've always wanted to be in a Fast and Furious movie but they've never asked me," Mirren revealed during our interview with her. "I don't understand why!"

The Red 2 star also had a message for the film franchise's leading man. "Vin [Diesel], get your act together!" the 70-year-old actress quipped.

Now it appears her request has been granted as she confirmed to ELLE that she will in fact have a part in the 2017 sequel, Fast 8. "I want to be making film and theater, but film is particularly relevant. I like it to be serious. Of course, having said that I’m about to do Fast and Furious 8, but that’s for the fun of it," she told the magazine. "So maybe that’s what I want as well, some fun and some relevant, serious, important movies."

Mirren didn't go into what her role will be in the highly anticipated sequel -- which also stars Charlize Theron and Scott Eastwood -- but she will be getting behind the wheel. "I’ve always rather loved driving," she added. "I said, ‘I’ll be in it, but only if I’m allowed to drive.'"

While the Oscar winner didn't disclose much, Diesel had some ideas as to who Mirren could play when he spoke to ET. "There are so many options!" he exclaimed in April 2015. "You've got Nathalie Emmanuel's mother. You've got, of course, the matriarch to the Shaw brothers!"

The Shaw brothers are played by British actors Jason Statham, Luke Evans, so that might be the perfect fit!
