Five months after the announcement that Shia LaBeouf will be playing tennis legend John McEnroe in his next film, we now have the first image of the actor in wardrobe for the role.

PiFi Zone tweeted the photo on Tuesday, showing LaBeouf on the tennis court with long curly hair, standing alongside co-star Sverrir Gudnason as McEnroe's nemesis, Bjorn Borg.

The biopic, Borg/McEnroe, tells the story of the two tennis stars' rivalry in the late '70s and early '80s. While their skill levels equaled each other, their personalities couldn't have been more different. McEnroe was known for his tantrums, while Borg had a calm and emotionless demeanor on the court, making them the perfect foes for the 14 matches in which they faced off against each other.

Like McEnroe, LaBeouf has also been known to have the occasional outburst, and he opened up to Variety in May about identifying with the character.

"[McEnroe and I have] everything in common -- passionate, perfectionist, narcissistic. I'm a bit of a caricature also," LaBeouf said. "You look for parallels in your life, and I'm lucky because there is a lot here ... I'm eager to meet him before we shoot. I got nothing but love and respect for him."

Borg/McEnroe is set to release in 2017.
